The Methodical Attack

The Methodical Attack
Revelation  12:1-5

“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 2And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. 3And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 5And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne” (Revelation 12:1-2).

The passage above reveals a critical caution for all Christians. To help introduce the caution, notice what the bible states in terms of our description dispositionally. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2). In terms of the Christian condition on earth, the Christian condition and predicament must be highly understood. To mistake it or under estimate it would be a fatal flaw. The biblical picture of the text is of baby Jesus and his virgin birth. It is also symbolic of the Christians birth into the church.

With all that understood, prepare for the vivid imagery: An innocent baby, defenseless, unskilled, and vulnerable with the devil close at hand to destroy/murder his/her body. How could he? How could the devil position himself in such a fashion against a harmless baby? Yet and still he does every day to the children of God. He engages in a methodical attack that all Christians must brace for.

Through it all, God protected the woman and baby Jesus, just as He will protect His children and church. Nevertheless, the attacks will continue, even for and especially for the babes in Christ. Paul said, “Put on the whole amour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). Continue to stand against the methodical attack of the devil and guard your salvation through obedient living in Christ.  Remember, you are the clay In The Potter’s Hands. God has paved a way to save you today!
