“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).
When the earthly plight and life of Christ is deeply considered, clearly one must walk away from the dialogic journey, concluding the Christian experience to be one of struggle. At the core level it is a fight. This fight is so spiritually intense it is referred to as warfare. The attack unleashed by the devil is biblically described with great significance. Notice the words of Bishop Peter, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Also, recall the sobering warning given to Peter by Christ: “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat” (Luke 22:31).
The devil roams earthly cosmic terrain seeking weak victims he can destroy and have his way with. He hunts and prowls for his pray, seeking the prized possession of gods elect. In the process he desire is to sift a saint as wheat. Because of that, saints must remain vigilant in prayer and faith.
In the process of Christian spiritual warfare, tenacity and vigilance are the key. He may stop for a season, but he returns with greater force. “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first” (Luke 11:24-26). Because of the demonic persistence spiritual warfare must be engaged with faith and divine power.
Do not let your guard down and understand the devil is out to destroy. When you think he is gone is when he may be most at work. Stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Remember, You are the clay In The Potter’s Hands. God has paved a way to save you today!
