He Hears It All!
God said through the apostle Paul, “Do all things without murmurings and disputings (Philippians 2:14). Dr. David Lane defined a murmur as the filing of a compliant to the wrong person, for the wrong reason, and at the wrong time. There are many conditions Christians may want to launch a gripe about, but from a spiritual perspective none are justified. Some do not like this and others do not like that, therefore they file oppositional complaints, simultaneously contaminating the minds of many. God wants His children to understand that life should be lived without complaining and disputing.
How easy and carnal it is to turn to your neighbor and voice a non-cooperative spirit. If there is a complaint or a problem, the Bible commands Christians to address one another privately (Matthew 18:15). God made you and therefore He hears everything. The Bible makes it clear that Christians will be judged for every idle word spoken (Matthew 12:36). This includes the unheard murmurs, mumbled under the breath. Your husband, wife, preacher, friend, mother, or father may not have heard, but God did. Generally the noncompliant are riddled with murmurs. People who have difficulty following scriptural leadership murmur. People who lack self-esteem and confidence murmur. People who do not understand God murmur.
The same mouth used to bless God, sing His praises, pray, preach, and shout Amen, is the same mouth used to murmur and initiate disputings (James 3:10). The tongue is difficult to control, but what rolls off of it is generated in the heart. Every Christian must be careful of how he/she responds to those things they are diametrically opposed. It takes a split second to vocalize a murmur, but one of the most dangerous aspects of a murmur is the fact that they are not isolated. Murmurs are shared with others as if they are valid and justifiable positions. To fire off a murmur is sin and sin is the only element that can keep people a guilty distance from God. Be careful of the oppositional words you speak and share in what you believe to be in confidence. Confidentiality does not justify a murmur. God said do all things without murmuring. Every Christian is probably responsible for one murmur or another and hopefully confession and repentance have occurred. There is no forgiveness without repentance. The goal is to stop murmuring. Because it may have been done in the past is not a license to continue it in the future. God made you and He hears every word you say. Remember, you are the clay In The Potter’s Hands. God has paved a way to liberate you today!
