Christian State of Mind

Christian State of Mind

Philippians 2:12

Salvation is often discussed as a onetime process and multiple Christians assume their personal relationship with salvation ended when they arose from the baptismal water. They may also believe it will be holistically completed when Christ returns, separating the sheep from the goats (placing you in heaven and the unredeemed in hell). The latter is true. Salvation is viewed through the lens of one being saved, thus because people have had their sins washed away, now being added to the church, they proclaim that as the essence of God’s salvation. However, that is a limited understanding of the salvation process for the Christian. Although it did begin with faith and baptism, it is a process that should be at work in the daily life of the Christian. The concept of salvation is defined as,  “Deliverance through the process of being released from the power but not the presence of sin and the essence of freedom and liberty. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke 4:18-19).

It is important to emphatically note that salvation is connected to the growth of spiritual liberty and freedom within every Christian. God delivered His son to set sinners free. Paul said, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12). The devil has created many shackles, but Christ wants us free. Working out your soul salvation with fear and trembling is the process of grabbing hold of the Word of God, and letting go of man/woman created doctrines. It can be a fearful process because not all will grow as you grow. As a superficial example, the woman who thought it was a sin 20 years ago to wear pants to worship, but now on occasion wears nice slacks to church related events has grown in her salvation, now understanding her position of 20 years ago was not a biblical principle. It was a Man/woman created tradition, occupying space as a shackle. In terms of state of mind, God wants us free. Free to exist in His Word alone, and not the doctrines of men. Paul also said, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16). Even from a heavenly perspective, salvation came (mental freedom and liberty) as the demonic accuser was cast down. “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death” (Revelation 12:9-11).

With reference to state of mind, have you become apathetic, currently displaying and or accepting mediocrity? Grow in salvation and reclaim the passion, revere God, and respect the cross. You are the clay In the Potter’s Hands. God has paved a way to save and comfort you today!
